ORK: Okashi RPG Kit for Unity - Demo

It took me longer than expected to finish the demo game (kids, trips, etc. :D) - but you can try it now!

Go to rpg-kit.com to download the standalone demo (for Windows or Mac).
This small RPG shows the key features of ORK (short for Okashi RPG Kit for Unity), including ingame events (dialogues, etc.), battle system (the demo uses the active time settings), etc. - even a simple camera system based on game events was implemented in the town area of the game.
Every gameplay aspect of the demo was created using ORK - so try it out and drop me a line!

The release of the actual RPG Kit will be this weekend - all I have to do is finish the documentation ... so many pages to write :D

  2. I played around with it and I saw that I couldn't get to the menu to exit the game, nor see the status of the two characters blue and brown pants.

There is a particular bug that happens when your in battle mode too. At rare instances the battle menu doesn't show up, waiting for user input.

Through on through sir, this is a marvelous feat you have achieved! Bravo!

  3. Yeah, I didn't implement a menu within the running game. Will come in the next release of the demo!

The status of the characters is currently only viewed in battles - but this can easily be changed with ORKs HUD system. I'll change this in the next release of the demo so that the status is also displayed in field mode.
If you're refering to a sort of ingame menu for items, status and stuff - this isn't yet a feature of ORK, but will be made available as an add on in about a month. But the RPG Kit will come with a detailed documentation so that you could code one yourself by accessing the kits data (items, skills, etc).

I haven't run into this bug yet, but I'll look into it!

Thanks for your feedback, let me know if you find any bugs - tried to make it as stable as possible.

  5. Well sir I'm interested. This project of yours is one really great one. I'm currently learning how to use Unity, and I've always wanted to make a 3D RPG. Knowing how many variables and such that you have to look into an RPG system is a lot and I commend you sir.

This is why I thank you so much for your efforts! I have already mention this to a team of programmers in my school so they can too try out your demo. We are learning how to use Unity in class so this demo teaches us some cool stuff that some of us always wanted to tackle on.

I'm more getting my artist skills up than programming, but I have always wanted to experiment with unity.

again thank you so much! I'll do my best in finding the bugs and reporting them to you and giving you credit where is due.

Going back to the glitch, the bug I see most of the time is missing menu from when the battle first starts. I think it could be my video card doing something weird. I set it up in fast mode, on full screen when it usually has a chance to show. When I let my computer rest for a bit, and try again later - it doesn't show up as often.

My video card specs are: Nvidia Gforce GTX 260 w/ 896MB of dedicated video ram. I run a Quad Core i7 with 9GB of RAM on Window vista. So there shouldn't be much trouble in drawing the simple objects in game. It could be my video card overheating.

    Btw my email is Mariolegend@gmail.com

  6. Expect a price around 100 euros for a single developer indie licence. The final prices (and licence types, e.g. studio licence) will be made public on release (still gotta think about them :D).

The goal of the RPG Kit is to allow the development of an RPG with Unity without any scripting effort - by just using the editors and Unity's game object/component system.
It's not yet there since the base kit has no shop system or ingame menu system, but will get there with the upcoming add ons.

I'm currently finishing the documentation (getting quite long, will be around 200 pages when finished) - once this is done I'll check on the bug you found.
I don't think it's got something to do with your system specs (they are way above mine).

  7. Well sir I'll gladly spend $142.44 dollars. I'm from San Francisco U.S. - By the way so the currency exchange is a bit high it seems. Still worth it to learn because of how much time you have put into it. Although if you want a larger number of users, it should range around 50 - 70ish bucks to compete with the 2D RPG makers even though its just a component plug-in. But I see that your still focus first on the documentation. I'm willing to donate as well if case may be?

Anyhow, I'll be looking forward to this sir. I'm much anticipated in the release of this marvelous project. =D
